Free Etsy Banner Tutorial using Picnik

Today I'm going to show you how to make an Etsy Shop Banner! It was very simple.. I'm so not a tecky person! I hope that my tutorial is easy to understand.

Alrighty here we go....
Upload any images that you are going to use to Picnik
Now that they are uploaded Open ANY image. {I love this pic of my kiddos} Thats right any image. Your going to cover it up with a sticker :)

Click on the Edit Tab

then the resize tab {make sure you un-click Keep Proportions}
Type in the new dimensions to 760px by 100px (standard Etsy banner sizing)

Click OK

Now your picture is going to look all wonky {fun word right?}
Go to the Create tab
Click on Stickers
(I learned this trick from I Am Mama Hear me Roar... You can see her tutorial here)
Choose Basic shape-rectangle
Stretch the rectangle completely over the whole image
I made mine pink so you could see it better

In the bottom left corner click on Photo Basket. Drag an image that you want to your new header and resize however. You can use photos, clip art or even Picnik stickers. I love all the sticker options!

I want my background to match my deer and bird sticker.. Click on your main rectangle {mine is the pink one}
I clicked on the sticker color then chose the dropper and moved it around on my image until I found the exact color I wanted. click

It is a good Idea to save your banner at this pint before you add text so you don't accidentally move your background stickers around. You will need to re-upload your new image.

Now To add Text
Go back to the Create Tab and choose Text. Add your text to the text Box and click add

Your font will be white and big so grab the side of the box and resize it and choose your text color like you did your sticker color.  Choose your font and save!

Now you have a fantastic banner ready to be uploaded seamlessly to Etsy. And now that you know the basics have fun with it!
You can do this basic concept to make your blog banner and all your button images just by resizing to the right demotions and covering with a sticker.
Here is the image for a sidebar button I made...

Oh! and don't forget to give thanks somewhere where you use the images to the source and let them know that you used it!
So a Big thank you to Free Pretty Things For You for the beautiful images used in this tutorial and for my Etsy shop.
To see this live you can go to my empty "someday" Etsy shop here.

One of the first illustrative blogs I started reading was Orange You Lucky. I love all of Helens designs. They are Playful, Witty and I always leave her site feeling happy... So.. here is my round up of Orange You Lucky Bookplate and Property Marker Tags! You can print them on sticker paper, print on fabric and use them as a property tag on clothing or even just print on paper and glue it down. Simply click on the link below each image and it will direct you to her site for download instructions.

Babalisme-Free Matryoshka Doll Party Printable

I have the honor of hosting Ning from Babalisme today. She is a super talented and super generous. Her free printable's are beautifully illustrated. I wish I had just an ounce of her talent. She is here today to share Part 5 of her Matryoshka Party kit.
(it is exclusive to Running With Glitter YAY!)
Welcome Ning!

Hello Running with Glitters readers, babalismeIt's my first time guest blogging here, so I'd like to introduce myself. Am I sounding too formal by now? Oh, OK. Where was I? Right, I'm Ning (Babalisme blog). I'm a mother of one little girl and mostly I am either in front of the computer doing freelance design job (and blogging and procrastinating) or playing and                 napping with my 3 year old. I'm from Indonesia, where it rains all season.

I'm here to share one of my Matryoshka Party Kit series, yes it's a free download printable, everyone, and today is the "Thank you Tags". Feel free to use these!

The direction is simple : download, print, cut. The tag is in Matryoshka shape and I think it's easy for even children to cut along, just be carfeul with the scissors. The tags can be use to thank someone (first doll from the left) and make sure you write something personal too, your children's school tag (middle doll) with their names and details, perfect for back to school season, and the last one is an all occasion tag, I simply made the matryoshka's belly blank so you can write anything there. You might also want to poke a little hole into the matryoshka's head if you want to hang it.
Get the full kit!If you're setting up a matryoshka themed party don't forget to

grab all previous party kits (HERE
We've got banners, straw label, cupcake topper, invitation
and paper plates! Don't miss them out!

Well now, before goodbye-ing, I'd like to thank Kelly for having me here and if you're all have had fun crafting/partying, please share with us some pics!

Thank you for Sharing today! I'm really excited to use these!
 Also you don't want to miss out on her other amazing paper printable's and crafts!

Mommy & Blog Business Card, Free Download & Mini Picnik Tutorial

I'm constantly finding myself jotting down my blog address on a napkin or random wadded up receipt from my purse for people. I'm also a mommy and always wishing I had a mommy business card... You may laugh now but you will think of this post next time you are digging for a scrap of paper to jot your name and number on for someone. {maybe..lol}
I decided it was time to make my card.

Love, Love, Love these

This is so, so simple and took me less than 10 minutes. Really...it was so simple I almost skipped sharing this.

Keren at Free Pretty Things For You {my most favorite place for images EVER} has a free download of both of the images I used to make these cards.
  • Click Here to download the images. Save to your computer.
  • Open Picnk and upload the image. If you're new to picnik it is amazing and FREE for most features. {I do have the paid version and it is well worth it.}
  • Click on the create tab at the top and choose "text"'
  • Type your text in the text box click "add"
  • Choose your font and font color. {for mine I chose Love Ya Like A... and used the dropper to match the font color}
  • Position and Resize.
  • Do the same steps as above for adding your name and e-mail and any other details you would like
  • Click "Save and Share"
  • Done! Now resize and print {I used my Silhouette SD software to resize to a little under 2 X 3 inches, copied the image and filled up the page then printed them on cheap photo paper.}
Bunting Pennant Banner Note Card- Set of 6

See I told you it was easy...And totally cute! Can you tell I'm kinda excited about my cards? It's the little things..... Bye for now and have a great day!

Happy Tickets

Positive reinforcement works!
When my kids start to get a little crazy wild unruly restless we always try to change things up a little. I found these tickets while searching for a new reward system. Happy Tickets!!! GENIUS!
 Quickly, I printed these tickets on linen card stock, cut on the lines, and put in a baggie.  After one day, my daughter is more willing to share with her brother and get things done {she is as slow as molasses} knowing that there may be a ticket involved. Adrian is potty learning, and these make a great potty reward for that too. I love when they do something sweet just to give them a ticket out of the blue. It really makes them and me "Happy".
So, whatever you call it... it works! These little tickets just may have saved my summer sanity??

Weekly House Schedule

I have needed to organize my life in a bad way for some time now. Most days are spent just picking up and little by little the one small load of laundry triples to three and then I stand in front of the fridge scratching my head trying to figure out dinner. Exhausted and feeling that I accomplished ZERO that day.
The weather is beautiful here so we are spending as much time as possible outdoors. I don't want to get more behind now that we are not home as much. Soooo.. I created a Weekly House Schedule. I think that this will really help me stay on track.
My children do a simple daily Chore Chart and love it so I think it is time for Mommy to follow their lead!

{Feel Free to click on the schedule, save it to your computer and use.
If you would like a copy of my Chore Chart via MS Word just send
me a msg and I will be happy to e-mail it to you to make your own.}
