My Daughter's Blogging Kindergarten Teacher

So my baby girl started Kindergarten last week. I was nervous, she was excited! 

As we drove to Meet the Teacher, I chewed on my fingernails and reapplied lip gloss a dozen times. Nervous of who I would be leaving my daughter with for seven hours a day, I met this amazing woman, Mrs. Haughey. Then I found out she is a fellow blogger and a Waldorf trained Kindergarten teacher. I'm relieved, and I know that my daughter is in great hands.

Not So Funny Mustache Shirt

Today I wanted to make something simple, fun and quick. But not just any old thing.. something for my little guy better known as "Bubby".  I adore this image {Funny Mustache} in the Silhouette SD store! So when I spotted it again today, I knew it was perfect for him...or so I thought. I really thought he would think it was so funny. I was excited to debut it to him after nap and snap a few pics of him sporting it happily for the Glitter blog.. Little did I know he would be VERY unamused!! "No Mama, I want monster, dinosaur, truck!" Geesh.. I giggled at his case of after nap grumpies. Then, I roped the shirt on him to snap a pic of him looking halfway happy before it was inevitably wrestled off. Oh well...guess I can't win all the time.  I'll have to sneak the shirt on him some other time and maybe he will warm up to it? If not, I will just upcycle it into a shirt for my hubby..HA!

95 Pounds Down 18.4 up...

95 Pounds down 18.4 pounds up...

I had to take a deep breath when I was posting this... I wish I could tell you that I'm perfect, I have a perfect body and I can eat yummy cupcakes all day. I simply can't. 


Truth... Over the last year, I worked incredibly hard to lose 95 pounds. It has been the hardest thing I have ever done. I've learned that I have a CRAZY relationship with food. I thought that food made me happy but it was just dragging me down. I have always been thin, so how did this happen? I now know.. {I had taken pictures along the way just for my own personal use so they are not the best pics but I wanted to share with you all.} 
So you ask how I did it? It all started with a 1200-1400 calorie diet and cardio on my elliptical machine. I stuck with it and wrote EVERYTHING down that went in my mouth. I ate lots of fruits and veggies so I rarely felt hungry. It was a total lifestyle change. But one I can do forever. I have learned a lot through my journey. The biggest is to set small goals!


Truth.. I'm back up to 148.4. 130 is my happy place. My jeans don't fit now, and I had spent a ton on clothes going from a size 16 to a 4! I had worked so so hard that I MUST lose the 18.4 pounds before things get out of hand again.  I'm not going to beat myself up about it, but through the holidays I had a bout  of "cocky" eating and it has continued. I got back into old habits. Lesson Learned.TIME FOR A CHANGE!
I'm going to change things up a little . Thursdays will be the new "The Happy Healthy Me Project!"  link party here on the Glitter Blog. We can all share our stories, recipes and motivation. (Mondays will still be the Crafty Link Party) I hope that you all will join me in my quest for healthiness and maintaining my weight...

Dove Story and a Wire Bird Nest Necklace

When my daughter Aubrey Rose was born in June 2006, a mama Dove made her nest on our back porch. Aubrey was born at 26 weeks and at that time we had no idea what was going to happen. We cherished every moment we had with her. When the first dove came, it was a symbol for us that things were going to be alright. The mama Dove was in a way a sign of peace and a reminder to trust in God. Five years later, that same dove comes back every spring and keeps reminding us how amazing life is.

It is June and the dove and her nest are near to my heart. So when Laura at live.laugh.photograph posted this Tutorial on how to make a bird nest I knew immediately I wanted to make one.

Here is how mine turned out. I love it! Just beautiful!

{I used 26 gage silver wire and Swarovski pearls from Hobby Lobby. 

The two Pink stones symbolize me and my daughter 

and the brown pearls my husband and son} 

Okay, who am I kidding...I made like a dozen......

I kept one and gifted the rest of them. Yeah, I'm a compulsive crafter but not a craft hoarder..lol

 It makes me so happy to give the things I made away! 

{You can add as many pearls as you want. 

I added 6 to the top left one for my friend with 6 kids}

I tried to photograph the necklace on but Aubrey put her hand over it...

 It made me love the picture even more... 

{If you haven't picked up I'm pretty emotional about my daughter.}

Summer is in full force here in Oklahoma. We had a fun and busy week! 

Here is our recap in pictures...

My silly willy, punkin wunkin, apple of my eye, Aubrey Rose turned 5!

 We had an awesome time at her swim birthday party!

 I wish I had taken a ton of pics, but managing her party was a full-time job.

 Little big man!

I taught Bre how to whistle while we were stuck in traffic. 

I now have a whistling buddy.

 One of our favorite places to go on a hot day is the Oklahoma Aquarium.  Love that place! They are adding a new sea turtle exhibit.. so excited for it to be finished next year. 

And on the way out, my daughter managed to get her head STUCK in the alligator statue's mouth. She is definitely her mother's daughter. 
If you know me, you know exactly what I'm saying. 

Our Yorkie/Silky, Blueberry, brought us this baby rabbit! We are in the process of nursing him back to health. He is going to be fine, but I think he is too small just to put back out in the yard. On Monday we will take him to a wild animal rescue. 

We also took a trip to my father's farm. 
It's always an adventure at Papa's house. 

AJ is in tractor heaven!

Farmhouse Doll Bed for Aubrey Rose

I wish I could say that I made this bed but I would not be telling you the truth.
Ready? I have a confession... I, Kelly DeAnn, am afraid of power tools. *GASP I know* I took woodshop in high school and watched my boyfriend from back in the day CUT HIS THUMB OFF. I'll spare you the details. I am forever scared..

My daughter got Julie, an American Girl doll, for her birthday, and so of course Julie needed a bed. I recruited my handy dandy father-in-law to make it for me Aubrey. This bed is amazing, sturdy enough that the kids can sit on it, and way cute. It is for sure a family heirloom! My father-in-law said it was very simple, only took a couple of hours and cost him under $20 to make.

Okay, so I'm not a total slacker when it comes to making this bed because I did make the bedding!

**Note: her measurements are for a modified bed so you will need to make sure you take your own measurements before making the mattress from her tutorial. I learned the hard way and made it too small. My own fault for not reading directions better before I cut my fabric**


I just made the bedding using look alike quilt fabric and stitched in the fake ditch (seams) :) If anyone is interested in how I made the quilt, I will gladly do a tutorial. Just let me know.

School's out for the summer! Where has this school year gone?

 My baby is going from 1/2 day Pre-K to full day Kindergarten and 

I'm just not sure I'm ready for it. I'm going to savor the summer

 with her and enjoy all the time I can before my "littles" get big. 

Next Week.. She will be 5!

I got my hair cut last weekend.

 It's a little shorter than I usually get.. But, it has really grown on me!

 I think I will keep it this short thru the summer.

Wow, three days left until Summer break! I'm so excited.

 Here is our week in pictures.....

 We went to Mayfest today.

A few weeks back I asked you all what you thought about adding a personal blog day here to Running With Glitter. The comments said yes you would love to look inside my world. So, I'll be adding a Growing Up Corado {Corado is my last name} Post every Sunday. It may not always be exciting but it is my life and I love it! 

This Week we celebrated my husband Jimmy's birthday. I love this man with all of my all. He's an amazing dad, handsome, super funny and a nerd! All the things I love in a man. His status on Facebook for his birthday was that he Just turned 12... If you count prime numbers only. He cracks me up everyday.

He decided for his birthday that instead of going out with his friends that he wanted to spend the day with his family at Woodward Park. Its a very enchanting park in Mid-Town Tulsa. The park's beauty changes magically with the seasons.It is one of my favorite places in the world. There is no place like home!

The fun thing about this time of year at Woodward is Mr. Squirrel is hungry and friendly. Armed with a few bags of peanuts and picnic basket we had a wonderful day.
