Child's Pennant Banner

“While we try to teach our children all about life,

our children teach us what life is all about.”

Author Unknown.
This quote is so true and beautiful.

What little girl does not love a pennant banner hung in their room..?!
Credit goes to my just turned 5 year old daughter, Aubrey Rose, who made this lovely banner. The sewing project idea came from Sew Mama Sew. She has a great post with lots of ideas on Easy Hand Sewing For Kids. I can't wait to give more of them from her blog a try.

We gathered our supplies: Embroidery thread, long sewing needle, and fabric scraps from our doll quilt.
I cut out the triangles with pinking shears, threaded her needle and showed her how to put it together. She worked diligently and proudly. It was so cute when her little brother came over to see what she was doing, and then she gladly turned the needle over to him and taught him. Of course he is two so it lasted like 30 seconds but nonetheless I was VERY proud of her. After she was done sewing them together, I starched and ironed them {just because I'm the crazy ironing lady who thinks if a needle touched it then it has to be ironed}. It was a great learning experience for her. It taught her her about repeating patterns in the fabric and was a great manual dexterity exercise. I can't wait for our next project together!
It matched perfectly with her bedding. Aubrey is so proud to show everyone who visits us..
I hope this has inspired you to sew with your littles! What fun crafts are you doing with your children?
